Shivas Irons Society Announces Start of Annual Online Fundraising Auction

October 29, 2007

(CARMEL, CA, October 26, 2007) The Shivas Irons Society today announced that its fall 2007 private fundraising auction is online and active. The auction features an eclectic array of items including golf and sports memorabilia, original art, golf photography and collectible books. Available too, are opportunities to play golf at several of the world’s most celebrated courses including a number of US Open and other amateur and professional major championship venues.

One particularly interesting offering is an exquisite handmade quilt created to commemorate this year’s Fifteenth Anniversary of the Society. It was made primarily from pieces of fabric cut from golf shirts donated by SIS members around the world. This quilt is "filled with golfing memories and represents the diversity of our organization" as well as, we hope, that of golfers everywhere.

Other featured items include a two-night getaway at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, a leather handcrafted limited edition MacKenzie Walker golf bag, a Tom Brady autographed football, the original painting "Late Afternoon" by James B. Thompson that was the inspiration for the most recent cover of the award-winning periodical of golf art and literature The Journal of the Shivas Irons Society, and much, much more.

The Shivas Irons Society is a 501(c)3 charitable organization with members throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Its mission is to provide opportunities for community, discovery and transformation through golf. Membership is open to all. You must be a member to participate in this private auction. Proceeds will benefit the Society’s activities including the Youth Scholarship Fund and The Journal project. The amount of winning bids in excess of the "fair market value" of auction items are tax-deductible (US Only).
