First Rally at EWGA Conference in Amelia Island on October 31
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, October 30, 2007 – Rally for the Cure® and the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) have partnered to promote breast cancer awareness. Rally for the Cure® is about golfers who are committed to making a difference in the fight against breast cancer and spread the Susan G. Komen for the Cure message that early detection saves lives.
The goal of the partnership is to have all EWGA chapters host a Rally closest-to-the-pin contest in 2008. To launch this new relationship, a "Rally hole" will be held at each golf event on Wednesday, October 31 during the EWGA conference in Amelia Island, Fla.
"Breast cancer has touched the lives of so many of our members. Numerous chapters already hold annual Rally for the Cure® events and through this partnership we are expanding the message association-wide. Together, we can reach more women and make a significant difference in this crucial fight to save lives," says Pam Swensen, CEO of the EWGA. "We expect a ‘sea of pink’ when everyone tees off on Wednesday, donning the color of Breast Cancer Awareness month and saluting our new partnership."
Rally for the Cure®, in partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Golf For Women magazine, is a grassroots golf program dedicated to spreading awareness in the fight to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. Rally for the Cure® brings the breast cancer awareness message to women golfers, and its events provide the platform for special fundraising opportunities for Komen for the Cure.
Concurrent with spreading awareness, each issue of Golf For Women magazine provides coverage and reinforcement of early detection issues that are so important to helping women realize that until there is a cure, it is our best defense.
"We at Rally for the Cure® are thrilled to join forces with the EWGA. Rally events offer a unique and easy opportunity for everyone to get involved in the breast cancer movement while doing something they love – playing golf," says Lori Redmer, Executive Director of Rally for the Cure®. "Our new partnership with the EWGA means that even more women golfers will have that opportunity at their fingertips."
Since the EWGA started in 1991, more than 85,000 women have benefited from membership in the organization which is dedicated to providing opportunities to learn, play, and enjoy the game of golf for business and for life. EWGA chapters provide a wide range of golf, social and networking activities for both new and experienced golfers. A welcoming environment, golf education and player development, and organized play programs are part of the many benefits of EWGA membership.
The EWGA is headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. There are currently over 120 chapters throughout the United States with international chapters in Canada and France. For more information about the EWGA and its membership, visit www.ewga.com.
