Woods, Harmon, Gulbis, Jones Highlight 10 Years at Rio Secco Golf Club

It seems like just yesterday that Rio Secco Golf Club burst onto the scene and quickly became one of the best Las Vegas golf courses, both in quality and by buzz created by those that played or practiced at the course. This Las Vegas golf course, designed by the legendary and award-winning architect Rees Jones, is the home of the Butch Harmon School of Golf, where the best in the game hone their skills, and to 18 holes of dazzling Las Vegas golf holes that dance through the native desert. Holes play on top of plateaus, in canyons, and over ravines, and nearly each hole at Rio Secco Golf Club will leave an indelible impression on a golfer’s mind or soul. In 2007, Rio Secco Golf Club celebrates its 10th anniversary, and provides the opportunity to remember some of the names that have visited these hallowed Las Vegas golf grounds including Tiger Woods, Harmon, Jones, Natalie Gulbis, Adam Scott, Charles Barkley, Kevin James, Lee Westwood, Charley Hoffman, Se Ri Pak, Fred Couples, Tito Ortiz and too many more to mention. Bali Hai Golf Club Site for Million-Dollar, High-Stakes Bets by Poker Stars

Walters Golf owns and operates three Las Vegas golf courses, Bali Hai Golf Club, Royal Links Golf Club and Desert Pines Golf Club golf courses that are unique to each other and to Las Vegas golf. And recently, the South Pacific-themed Bali Hai Golf Club was home to some high stakes golf betting by some of the biggest names in the poker world with the playing of the The Doyle Brunson and Dewey Tomko Invitational. Nine poker stars anted up a million dollars of their own money to participate in an event where they are playing for a minimum of $500,000 per hole. One of the competitors is Walters Golf CEO Bill Walters, who after the first nine holes when he teamed with Phil Hellmuth and Russ Hamilton, has helped his team earn $1 million. The team of Doyle Brunson, Dewey Tomko and Vince Van Patten earned $2 million while the team of Daniel Negreanu, Erick Lindgren and Josh Arieh won $1 million. Waltersgolf.com

This Golf Writer Loves Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort Architect Pete Dye

Everyone has an opinion about legendary golf course architect Pete Dye. Some call him ‘Dye-abolical’ for creating seemingly too-tough golf challenges while others stand in awe of his design magic and ability to create golf beauty and intrigue with every golf course he helps develop. One WorldGolf.com writer, Tim McDonald, is of the second opinion, going so far as to say that Pete Dye is golf’s ‘lone design genius’, and mentions Dye’s Las Vegas golf courses at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort as among his favorite ever, specifically the Wolf Course. "Dye is my favorite golf architect," McDonald writes. "In a world of mostly blandness, Dye is a Salvador Dali. He has more imagination than any of the others. He’s the one others follow. He’s fearless." Lvpaiutegolf.com
