Send in your classic, hybrid, tech apparel submissions by Nov. 21
WINDERMERE, Fla. — As golf is becoming more respected as an athletic "power" sport, the equipment, fitness regimen, and even the apparel have risen to accommodate the changes in the game. Being able to play your best game is a combination of the best equipment, proper fitness and wearing the appropriate performance apparel. The more comfortable you are the better able you are to focus on playing your best game.
In an effort to expand its current coverage of the apparel side of golf and fitness, Golf Fitness Magazine is going to begin conducting annual Performance Apparel Rankings (PAR).
"Although Golf and Fitness are the key components of our magazine, we realize that performance apparel is becoming more of an integral part of the game," said Steve Gomen, Founder and Publisher Golf Fitness Magazine. "That is why we are committing part of every issue to covering the newest developments in golf apparel."
To take part in the PARs, men’s/women’s apparel companies are invited to send in three pieces for men of the same style and three pieces for women to be judged. Entries will be evaluated on 100-point scale on the following criteria: fabric, fit, design, style, value, cool factor, comfort, color, tour presence and cross over appeal.
The apparel rankings will be divided into Classic, Hybrid and Tech apparel. In 2006, Marbas was the Classic category winner, Ahead won the Hybrid category and PRX won the Tech category.
"When we heard about the performance apparel rankings, we were curious as to how our Ahead apparel products would stack up against the competition, especially our hybrid apparel," said Jim Keenan, Director of Marketing Ahead, Inc. "We were thrilled to find out that we finished with the best ranking and have used this acknowledgement as part of all our sale presentations to customers. Being ranked #1 gets our customer’s attention. We always thought we had the best product but when an unbiased ranking comes out and substantiates it, it makes both our customers and our employees feel great!"
This year’s panel of judges will be headed up by Golf Fitness Magazine Fashion Editor Auke Hempenius. Apparel companies who desire to take part in the PARs should mail 1 medium and 2 large men’s shirts and 1 small and 2 medium women’s shirts of the same style by Nov. 21 to: Golf Marketing Services, 2933 W SR 434 Ste 131, Longwood FL 32779.
Apparel companies submitting shirt entries should also send high resolution images (suitable for commercial printing) of their shirt selections to mike@golfmarketinginc.com. This year’s PAR results will appear in the January/February 2008 issue of GFM.
