Company’s Models Remain Overwhelming Choice on One of the World’s Top Professional Tours
(SAN DIEGO, California) – Graphite Design — maker of some of the most widely played graphite driver, fairway wood and hybrid shaft models on the PGA TOUR — claimed its 155th consecutive graphite wood shaft brand count on the Japan Tour while powering this week’s winner to victory, according to the Darrell Survey.
At the Mitsui Sumitomo Visa Taiheiyo Masters, a total of 90 Graphite Design shafts were in play – 30 percent of the graphite wood shaft total – extending the company’s unprecedented brand count streak which began in 2002. The winner used a Graphite Design shaft in his driver, becoming the 15th Japan Tour champion in 21 events this season to play the company’s shafts. The runner-up shafted his driver and a fairway wood with Graphite Design’s Tour AD Quattro Tech model.
"The Japan Tour continues to be a great proving ground for Graphite Design shafts, which consistently outperform all others on this highly competitive circuit," said Tim Gillis, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Graphite Design. "Professional golfers rely on Graphite Design shafts to deliver unmatched accuracy and distance under the most demanding conditions. Likewise, the everyday player will notice an immediate difference in feel and performance when swinging a Graphite Design model."
In 2006, Graphite Design shafts were played by 41 winners of professional tournaments worldwide. Players using Graphite Design shafts amassed more than $90 million in PGA TOUR earnings in 2006 while the company earned more graphite wood-shaft model count victories on the PGA TOUR (16) than any other manufacturer. On the Japan Tour, Graphite Design shafts were in the bags of 18 winners in 2006 while the company extended its win streak in the wood shaft brand count to 134 consecutive tournaments.
Graphite Design is the graphite shaftmaker of choice for Hank Haney, coach to the world’s top-ranked player. This year the company introduced the Tour AD Quattro Tech ultra-premium shaft in the U.S. and launched its G-TECH combination-flex custom clubmaker series of wood and iron shafts, designed for exceptional playability throughout the bag.
