LAS VEGAS, Nevada – David Stead, the Director of Golf at Angel Park Golf Club, the home of two Arnold Palmer-designed Las Vegas golf courses, was named the winner of the Southwest Section PGA of America Bill Strausbaugh Award that recognizes the community-based efforts of PGA Professionals in Arizona and Nevada.
The Bill Strausbaugh Award was established in 1979, and is presented to a PGA Golf Professional who, by their day-to-day efforts, has distinguished themselves in mentoring their fellow PGA Golf Professionals in improving their employment situations and through service to the community. The Award is named in honor of the late Bill Strausbaugh, a PGA Master Professional in the Middle Atlantic PGA Section.
Stead has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations such as Southwest Section PGA Board of Directors, Southwest Section PGA Assistants Association, Southwest Section PGA Career Services Committee Member and the Southwest Section PGA Youth Golf Club Director. Stead continues to develop professionally by earning certifications and awards from the PGA such as President’s Plaque Award, PGA/USGA Rules of Golf Certification, PGA of America National Teaching Summit and he was trained by Titleist and Ping as a Certified Club Fitter.
Prior to joining the team at Angel Park, Stead was the Director of Golf/General Manager at Alta Mesa Country Club (’03 – ’06) located in Mesa, Ariz. Before that, Stead was the First Assistant Golf Professional for The Country Club at DC Ranch (’98 – ’03) located in Scottsdale, Ariz. Early in Stead’s golf career (1997), he was the Tournament Director for Green Brook Country Club located in North Caldwell, New Jersey.
