Awards Program Recognizes 12 Outstanding Leaders Throughout the Country Honored at Golf Association’s Annual Conference
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, November 19, 2007 — The Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) has named Sharon Reich of Orlando, Florida as the 2007 recipient of its prestigious Canon Businesswoman of the Year Award. In its fifth year as a supporting partner of the EWGA, Canon U.S.A., Inc. expanded its sponsorship of this year’s awards program to recognize 12 outstanding EWGA members throughout the country. Reich and the other finalists were honored at the EWGA Conference recently held at Amelia Island Plantation Resort in Amelia Island, Fla.
The Canon Businesswomen of the Year Awards recognizes EWGA members who demonstrate exemplary business leadership, entrepreneurial spirit and expert business acumen through utilizing innovative skills and technology in achieving success both on and off the golf course. Each of EWGA’s 12 geographic sections selected a winner and from these candidates, the Canon Businesswoman of the Year was chosen.
Reich, vice president, senior trust administrator with Wachovia Bank in Orlando, Fla., admirably demonstrates business leadership in her career and volunteer activities. She continually excels in her trust responsibilities at Wachovia where she has worked for over 16 years, frequently utilizes golf in her business relationships and has helped host an all women’s event at the Wachovia Championship, a PGA Tour event. As president of the EWGA Orlando chapter, Reich helped the chapter more than double its membership and she now serves as the EWGA assistant sectional director for Florida.
In addition to her involvement with the EWGA, she is on the board of the Central Florida Estate Planning Council and serves on the WMFE Endowment Committee for Central Florida’s public radio and TV stations. She takes great pride in enhancing the Wachovia and EWGA brands through relationship building in the community.
"By expanding our involvement in this program, we can help the EWGA elevate the recognition of this award and the top-flight women executives who participated in this program within the business community," says William Reed, senior vice president and general manager, Corporate Communications Division of Canon USA. "The women nominated for this award are true leaders whose business skills serve them well – whether it is in the boardroom or on the golf course."
EWGA members represent a dynamic, unique and influential group of professional and executive women. These career-minded females come from nearly every corner of America and are small business owners, senior and middle management, professionals, consultants, educators and government employees.
"Our diverse membership reflects the wide spectrum of women in the workforce today," says Pam Swensen, CEO of the EWGA. "Progressive companies such as Canon U.S.A. realize the contributions that these women make in business and their communities. We salute their ongoing support to highlight women’s business achievements."
