Latest ‘Best-of’ Acclaim for Stellar, New Community and Course in Southwest Oklahoma
(Southwest Oklahoma) – The Territory, a golf and residential community near the quaint, progressive town of Duncan, today announces that it has been named a "Top 100 Residential Golf Course in America." The Wall Street Journal recently published the rankings with The Territory (No. 38) ranking side by side with internationally known courses at Isleworth – Tiger Woods’ home course – Kiawah Island, Pronghorn and La Quinta.
"Being named one of the country’s top residential courses validates our ongoing mission to provide a top-notch golf, residential and lifestyle experience at The Territory," says owner Rick Braught.
Unlike numerous residential courses across the country – many of which join The Territory in the Top 100 – the Randy Heckenkemper design feels like a golf course first, and a residential development second.
Stretching to 7,100 yards from the tips and featuring five sets of tees, The Territory is a modified target-style design that unfolds over rolling hills and through fields of native vegetation. A state-of-the-art training facility and a three-hole short course add to the golf-related chops, while Chef Tristan Peck heads the culinary creations at the Prairie House. The swimming pool and activity courts are often venues for planned events or a break from the day-to-day grind.
Prospector’s Ridge – Phase I of the residential development, features custom home lots which range in price from $61,000 to $144,000. If a similar, high-quality, nationally ranked property like The Territory were located in the nearby Oklahoma City or Dallas-Fort Worth areas, it would likely cost 3-5 times as much.
Hard on the Chisholm Trail, The Territory within a short drive of lakes for boating and fishing and mere minutes from schools, shopping, dining and churches, as well as Duncan Regional Hospital, recently named to the Solucient Top 100 Hospitals – a list of more than 3,000 hospitals that identifies industry benchmarks by recognizing U.S. hospitals that have achieved excellence in quality of care, operational efficiency, financial performance and adaptation to the environment.
The "Top 100 Residential Courses" list was published in partnership with Golfweek Magazine, which sends hundreds of course rating panelists around the country annually to identify the best courses in their respective categories. Golfweek and the Wall Street Journal are partnering to provide this valuable information to their combined readerships.
