GILBERT, AZ. (November 19, 2007) – Player’s Pass, a national company that markets a discount golf membership program featuring half-price and reduced fee golf at golf courses nationwide, is proud to announce the appointment of Tony Vaught as Ambassador in the Central Texas Region. Vaught is the next in a series of Ambassadors that are being appointed across the country.
The Ambassador program is part of the effort by Player’s Pass to establish a national direct marketing campaign. Until recently, Player’s Pass was sold primarily by high school student athletes as a fundraising vehicle. Now, with the establishment of the direct marketing program, the general public can receive those same discounts by purchasing a Player’s Pass membership through the website at www.playerspass.com, at golf retail outlets and golf courses in numerous cities.
Vaught, as Ambassador in the Central Texas Region, will service area golf courses affiliated with the Player’s Pass and work directly with members and prospective members at a series of events throughout the year. Additionally, he will present the Player’s Pass program to courses throughout Central Texas, giving course owners, managers and golf professionals the opportunity to affiliate with the prestigious Player’s Pass.
Vaught has been involved with golf for more than 30 years. He is a member of the Texas Golf Writer’s Association which has included a position as a Senior Writer for Golfer’s Guide – Central Texas Region as well as Regional Editor for BunkerShot.com – a Golf Online Magazine. He held the position of local Tour Director for the Golf Galaxy Tour – the #1 Amateur Golf Tour in the country as well as being a former Advisory Board Member of the PGA Tour’s Valero Texas Open. In addition, Vaught was part of a group of Founding Members of the Golf Rewards Network and a Central Texas representative for Basic Golf Company. He also served as a USGA Handicap Chairman for the Golf Galaxy Golf Club Austin/San Antonio. "I intend to use this experience and passion to promote Player’s Pass" said Vaught.
Andy Mears, President of Player’s Pass and a member of the Growth of the Game Committee in the Michigan Section PGA, realizes the value of having golf-savvy Ambassadors in place throughout the country. Vaught’s background and love of golf makes him a natural as a Player’s Pass Ambassador.
"The Ambassadors will be our field force of golf-knowledgeable representatives who will build relations with the courses as well as the golfers," said Mears. "They are another part of our focus to grow the game of golf, and make it more enjoyable and affordable for people. They will carry out our objective of getting people to play more golf for less money."
Mears will continue hiring and training a number of Player’s Pass Ambassadors, local representatives in key cities, to bring the program to the grass roots level.
