Stellar Play Earns Payette, Idaho Resident Opportunity to Play on Champions Tour Again
TAMARACK, Idaho – It is back to the Champions Tour for Scott Masingill in 2008.
Masingill represents Osprey Meadows Golf Course at Tamarack Resort – the Robert Trent Jones Jr. signature design named America’s best-new upscale resort course by Golf Digest Magazine in 2006. He finished tied for 7th place at the Champions TOUR "Q" School Final Stage competition Nov. 11-16 at TPC Eagle Trace in Coral, Fla.
Masingill, a trucking company executive and multiple-time Idaho state amateur champion, played on the Champions Tour in 2006. He carded a 72-hole total of 3-under-par 285 in Q School final stage which concluded on Friday, good for a check worth $8,250.
The top-30 and ties (31 players) earned spots into weekly open qualifiers at all co-sponsored events on the Champions Tour in 2008.
"All in all, I’m real pleased with my play this week, though disappointed that I had a chance to win and couldn’t quite get it done," said Masingill who was -6 and tied for first place after three rounds. "But it is nice to have the option to play on the Champion’s Tour for the 2008 season. I’m really looking forward to working on my fitness and game to get ready for the season, and see what I can accomplish."
Masingill won the Idaho Open in July when he shot an opening-round 59 en route to the three-round victory. A frequent player at Osprey Meadows, the resort’s world-class golf course, Masingill spends time honing his game on the resort’s excellent, secluded practice facility.
