Company’s Graphite Wood Shafts Favored in Every Event in 2007; 17 Tourney Champs Played Graphite Design
(SAN DIEGO, California) – Graphite Design — maker of some of the most widely played graphite driver, fairway wood and hybrid shaft models on the PGA TOUR — finished the 2007 season with its 158th consecutive graphite wood shaft brand count victory on the Japan Tour, according to the Darrell Survey.
At the Nippon Series JT Cup, a limited-field event, a total of 30 Graphite Design shafts were in play – 33.3 percent of the graphite wood shaft total. The winner used a Graphite Design shaft in his driver, becoming the 17th Japan Tour champion in 24 events this season to play the company’s shafts. In addition, the runner-up shafted his driver and a fairway wood with Graphite Design models.
For the year, Graphite Design claimed the graphite wood shaft brand count at all 24 tournaments on the Japan Tour. The company’s Tour AD Quattro Tech model, available in the U.S., routinely ranked at or near the top of the driver shaft standings. Graphite Design’s unprecedented Japan Tour brand count winning streak began in 2002.
"The 2007 season reinforced Graphite Design’s Japan Tour dominance, a great source of pride for our company," said Tim Gillis, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Graphite Design. "Japan Tour professionals are extremely knowledgeable about the role of the shaft in club performance, and they choose Graphite Design products in overwhelming numbers. We’re delighted with Graphite Design’s continued success in Japan and look forward to great things in 2008 and beyond."
In 2006, Graphite Design shafts were played by 41 winners of professional tournaments worldwide. Players using Graphite Design shafts amassed more than $90 million in PGA TOUR earnings in 2006 while the company earned more graphite wood-shaft model count victories on the PGA TOUR (16) than any other manufacturer. On the Japan Tour, Graphite Design shafts were in the bags of 18 winners in 2006 while the company extended its win streak in the wood shaft brand count to 134 consecutive tournaments.
Graphite Design is the graphite shaftmaker of choice for Hank Haney, coach to the world’s top-ranked player. This year the company introduced the Tour AD Quattro Tech ultra-premium shaft in the U.S. and launched its G-TECH combination-flex custom clubmaker series of wood and iron shafts, designed for exceptional playability throughout the bag.
