Borders, Barnes & Noble, others to carry national golf publication in January
WINDERMERE, Fla. — Steve Gomen, Publisher and President of Golf Fitness Magazine announced the establishment of corporate partnerships and expansion of distribution sites as the magazine nears accomplishment of its circulation goals for the year 2007.
Gomen has established corporate partnerships with both the Golf Coaches of America Association and the National Golf Coaches Association.
"We recognize the importance of proper physical conditioning for young golfers," said Gomen, "and as part of our agreement in this partnership we will supply collegiate golf coaches with complimentary one-year subscriptions to keep them abreast of the latest developments in golf-specific fitness and mental focus. We believe that full collaboration with the country’s best golf coaches will be a mutual benefit for our editorial content and continual improvement of their team’s competitive level."
Gomen also announced that he has expanded distribution to include 60 GolfTEC locations in the United States. Many of these are located in Golfsmith retail facilities.
"We really respect the tremendous job GolfTEC instructors do in teaching the game of golf through knowledge and technology," said Gomen, "and we share in their commitment in teaching the total game. We also strongly believe that the more fit the golfer is the better he or she will be able to put these fine lessons into action."
Distribution will now include PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla. and LPGA International Headquarters in Daytona Beach, Fla.
"Both the PGA and LPGA have started incorporating fitness into their teaching curricula," said Gomen, "and we’re proud that they want our magazine available to assist them in that segment of their lesson plans."
Gomen was also extremely pleased that six major booksellers across the U.S. and Canada will be offering single copies of Golf Fitness Magazine for sale.
"You know you’ve gained mainstream acceptance when Barnes & Noble, Borders, Books-A-Million, Hastings, Chapters and Indigo see the value of providing your publication to the consumer," said Gomen. "This was a major goal for us and one we’re proud to have achieved."
Gomen also noted that the subscription base is constantly growing.
"Right now, we calculate 150 direct mail conversions per issue and that number is constantly increasing," he explained, "and we’re gaining another 100 subscriptions per month through Web site conversions and product promotion conversions per issue. Both of those sources are continuing to grow as well. The future, like our magazine, looks to be extremely healthy for all of us."
