Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announces new dates, age groups

December 10, 2007

TAMPA, Fla. – Hurricane Junior Golf Tour Founder and President Mario Conte announced nine new events for the Tour’s inaugural season including four more stops in Florida, two more in Georgia, and two additional events in South Carolina.

"We were excited that we could add nine more stops to the tournament schedule," said Conte. "At the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, we are dedicated to developing junior golfers and seeing them thrive through competitive golf while making the experience one that they will never forget," he said. "To be privileged to add nine more stops to this great tour is outstanding. We were able to schedule events at some of the finer courses in central Florida. In addition, the two stops we added in Georgia bring the total number of events in the Peach State to five. We increased our schedule in South Carolina, including the Charleston area, which is a hotbed of junior golf. We look forward to incredibly competitive events in every state on the schedule."

Changes to the Tour’s schedule were not the only news out of HJGT, but Conte also announced a realignment of the age divisions.

"After careful study, we decided that a more equitable and competitive situation was needed," he said. "With that in mind, we changed the age division for both boys and girls. The new age brackets are ages 12 through 15 and 16 through 18. We believe that players in these age groups are more comparable in both physical and mental development."
