BELLINGHAM, Wash. — While some golf equipment companies have struggled to make par financially, Aerotech Golf LLC announces the company’s gross annual sales have increased more than 300 percent since October 2005. In the past two years, Aerotech’s annual sales of its high-performance golf shafts have tripled and the company continues to add new dealers and distributors on a regular basis — not only in the United States, but around the world.
As a golf industry leader in composite shaft innovation, Aerotech Golf designs and manufactures uniquely engineered, performance-enhancing golf shafts — including the award-winning SteelFiber technology. The company’s dramatic growth has come under the leadership of Chris Hilleary, who took over as president and company principal two years ago.
"Business is booming. We’re adding new dealers at an unprecedented rate and we continue to ramp up production in order to meet demand," says Aerotech President Chris Hilleary, who has led the company to triple-digit growth with innovative shaft designs such as SteelFiber. "We’re obviously very pleased with our growth, but we’re even more excited with our potential. Our SteelFiber technology is making great strides in changing the mentality in the industry with regards to composite iron shafts. It’s always been thought that you have to give up accuracy and consistency when switching from steel to a composite iron shaft. This is just not the case with the SteelFiber shaft. It’s only a matter of time before composite shafts take over the iron shaft category, just like it has in drivers, and Aerotech is proud to be at the forefront of this evolution."
A big part of the Aerotech Golf success story has been the SteelFiber shaft series. SteelFiber shafts feature a high-modulus graphite core and more than 59 miles of steel fiber covering the surface of each shaft, providing golfers with the power of graphite and the stability of steel. While the shaft’s graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, the steel fibers reduce wall thickness for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy. Originally developed for irons the SteelFiber technology now enhances the performance of hybrids, fairway woods and drivers.
Aerotech was originally a subsidiary of a larger composite manufacturer, which produced a variety of products in the sporting goods, medical and musical industries. Starting production of golf shafts in 1994, Aerotech supplied high-performance shafts to such renowned Original Equipment Manufacturers as Cleveland Golf, Adams Golf, Fenwick, Lynx and Zevo among many others. In 2002, Aerotech launched its own branded golf shafts and quickly earned a reputation as a producer of some of the most innovative, high-quality golf shafts on the market. Hilleary purchased the golf division in October 2005 and today, headquartered in Bellingham, Wash., Aerotech is seeing it’s brand recognition and market share grow at an exciting rate.
