PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – An unprecedented equipment ruling in golf is among golf’s top news in 2008 that will take center stage at the 55th annual PGA Merchandise Show, Jan. 17-19, 2008, in Orlando, Fla. As the global business platform to the industry, the PGA Merchandise Show will provide the stage for education, discussion and debate on the ruling’s potential widespread impact during the Adjustable Club Symposium on Friday, January 18, at 2:30 p.m.
The PGA of America has invited top industry executives to participate in the Adjustable Club Symposium, which will address the January 2008 adjustable club ruling of the United States Golf Association (USGA). This new ruling amends the previous ruling on the general form and make of clubs, to allow forms of adjustability other than weight adjustment.
Executives from the USGA, golf’s governing body for the rules of golf, will discuss the previous rule, the change in the rule and the process that resulted in the rules change. Representatives of major equipment manufacturers and major golf retailers also are scheduled to participate and will offer their insight into how the ruling will impact equipment development, retailing and the enjoyment of the game. The free symposium will be open to all PGA Merchandise Show attendees and held on the Show floor at the PGA Equipment Forum in the Orange County Convention Center.
As an important catalyst to the new year, the PGA Merchandise Show has transformed beyond the traditional trade show and today attracts more than 45,000 international industry leaders, and some 1,200 golf vendors who, on an annual basis, come together to showcase golf’s latest innovations, identify trends, introduce programs and address business issues that define the business of golf.
The PGA Merchandise Show returns to Orlando one week earlier than usual, Jan. 17-19, at the Orange County Convention Center. Market leaders such as Callaway Golf, PING, Nike Golf, adidas, the Titleist Performance Institute, Srixon, Ahead, Cutter & Buck, Cleveland Golf, Antigua, Bridgestone, Gear For Sports, Tehama, Bobby Jones, POLO, Club Car, Greg Norman, Fairway & Greene, E-Z Go, EP Pro, Ashworth, Yamaha, Wilson Staff, Nickent, Imperial, Adams, Mizuno, Tommy Bahama, Bugatchi, Harry Vardon, PING Collection, Byron Nelson and many more are among golf’s top participating vendors at the 2008 PGA Merchandise Show.
The game’s most influential leaders, including executives from worldwide PGAs, global golf companies and national golf organizations join grassroots PGA Professionals and retailers who are focused on growing the business of golf.
