(Grand Rapids, Mich.) When the doors open on Feb. 22-24, 2008 for the West Michigan Golf Show at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, it will mark the 20th edition of one of the nation’s most popular, well-organized, and longest-running consumer golf shows. Held continuously since 1988, the West Michigan Golf Show attracts thousands of avid Michigan golfers to hundreds of exhibits, instructional clinics and fun, interactive areas. In fact, it attracts more area golfers than any single event or tournament during the entire year. So for those looking for a last-minute Christmas stocking stuffer for the golfer on your list, they can purchase advance tickets online at www.westmichigangolfshow.com
And for golfers looking to get their games ready for the new season, the Michigan Section PGA will provide free lessons at the show. "The Michigan PGA is proud to continue the tradition of PGA Members providing free lessons at the West Michigan Golf Show," said Kevin Helm, Executive Director. "This is an opportunity for PGA Professionals to show that they are the leaders in teaching and promoting the game of golf."
Show Manager Carolyn Alt welcomed the Michigan Section PGA as a new Show sponsor. "We’re both excited and proud to have the Michigan PGA be a part of our family of sponsors and supporters," said Alt. "The Michigan Section is nationally known for the high caliber of its teaching professionals so Show patrons will receive expert instruction."
Returning sponsors at this time include the Golf Association of Michigan (GAM), the governing body of amateur golf in the state. Founded in 1919, the GAM provides membership to more than 70,000 golfers and more than 400 golf courses while also conducting and/or overseeing 27 championships and events. Also returning as a sponsor is Srixon, the official golf ball of the Show. The first 100 people entering the Show each day will receive a free sleeve of Srixons as will all those ordering tickets on-line.
Also joining the sponsor roster this year is the Odawa Casino Resort. Located in the heart of northern Michigan golf country, the Odawa Casino Resort in Petoskey encompasses just under 300,000 square feet, including approximately 50,000 square feet of gaming space.
