Las Vegas, Nevada – David Bogue, general manager of Angel Park and The Legacy Golf Clubs, recently earned a Fairway Award for the “Top General Manager” in the Las Vegas golf industry. Given out annually by VegasGolfer magazine, the Fairway Awards honor “Vegas’ best and brightest in the golf industry,” as stated by the editors.
“We are all very pleased to see David earn this distinction,” said Phil Green, President of OB Sports Golf Management, the management group for both golf clubs. “He has a wealth of experience; he is a true leader and he puts in the time required to run these two very popular Las Vegas clubs.”
Bogue is responsible for oversight of all operations for Angel Park Golf Club and The Legacy Golf Clubs. All together that amounts to the supervision of three golf courses, that when combined offer 66 holes of golf along with retail, instruction and food & beverage services.
“I’m honored to be recognized by VegasGolfer,” said Bogue. “I’m a true believer in finding the right person for the job and then trusting them to do their job. I guess you could say I’m not a micro manager. That said, I’d like to thank my staff for a job well done. An award like this also is a reflection of their efforts.”
Bogue is no stranger to industry leadership awards having received accolades such as the Golf World Business’ America’s 100 Best Golf Shops, PGA’s Merchandiser of the Year and Golf Inc. magazine’s “Most Admired Operator” award, to name a few. The latter of which is an honor awarded to the top 20 golf course operators nationally who demonstrate consistent excellence in golf facility operations.
Since 2003, Bogue moved to Las Vegas as the General Manager of Angel Park Golf Club, and during that time he added The Legacy to his charge. Under his direction, both facilities have become even more popular amongst both traveling and resident golfers and have been decorated with numerous industry awards and accolades. Bogue was also instrumental in directing an ambitious renovation project this summer designed to enhance water conservation efforts by removing approximately 70 acres of out-of-play turf at Angel Park Golf Club and over 50 acres of turf at The Legacy Golf Club – replacing the turf with desert/xeriscape landscaping. This project has not only enhanced water conservation efforts, but has drastically improved the aesthetics of the golf courses by delivering a more visually appealing product that creates the presentation of a modern golf course design.
Prior to joining OB Sports, Bogue was the general manager for Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz. for nearly 17 years, where he supervised golf, food and beverage, and agronomy operations. Bogue also served as the head golf professional at Pinetop Country Club for four years and general manager/head golf professional at Pinetop Lakes Country Club for eight years. During his tenure at these private clubs he owned and operated the golf shops and trained and managed the staff.
Bogue enhances his professional skills by staying active within golf-industry related associations such as the Professional Golfer’s Association of America as a Class-A member and as the former president of the Arizona/Nevada Chapter of the Club Manager’s Association of America where he carries the title of Certified Club Manager.
