New Trailer Graphics Increase Single-Rider Awareness
CENTENNIAL, COLO. (Dec. 15, 2007) – SoloRider has named Terry Pemberton regional manager for the southwestern U.S. Pemberton was previously executive director for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America for 24 years.
Pemberton, who has a degree in recreation administration from Columbus State University, is based in Mesquite, Nev.
In addition to regional managers in five regions across the U.S., SoloRider also has expanded its distribution through dealers and independent sales. The company now has 12 dealers and 11 independent sales representatives. Regional managers have responsibility for enlarging the company’s sales and service organization and supporting the golf and disabled communities, according to Tom Durbin, vice president of sales.
“In addition to extensive sales and management experience, each of our regional managers has a passion for increasing opportunities for players with disabilities to enjoy the game of golf,” Durbin said. “They work with courses in their areas to encourage those opportunities for mobility-impaired golfers, which in turn, increase revenue opportunities for golf course owners and operators.”
The company is also increasing its presence through new graphics on the trailers regional managers use to transport SoloRider demonstration vehicles. The graphics, according to Durbin, are another example of the company’s efforts to grow the game by making more people aware of single-rider golf cars.
“Thousands of people with a disability who would love to play golf still don’t know about single-rider golf cars,” Durbin said. “Many will see the image of our cars on one of our trailers and, hopefully, decide to call their local golf course to find out more about getting back in the game.”
“There are 46 million disabled Americans, and approximately five million of them are candidates to play golf”, said Durbin. “About 2.5 million of them are mobility impaired golfers, people who have played golf before their disability and want to play again. They represent millions of rounds of golf and a half billion dollars in revenue for golf courses.”

Monroe Berkman, an avid golfer, polio survivor and longtime user of the SoloRider golf car, purchased the company in 2004. For more information, please go to www.solorider.com
