Introduces Innovative Products, Posts Record Sales Worldwide
Carlsbad, CA (January 3, 2008) – As it approaches its 35th anniversary, Cobra Golf enters 2008 riding a wave of momentum following another year of record-setting market shares and worldwide sales growth. Cobra’s continued success can be attributed to innovative, high performance product introductions, brand development in growing markets, and an efficient high profile PGA Tour presence.
“Our sales gains across all regions around the world clearly demonstrate the superior performance and satisfaction levels Cobra equipment provides,” said Jeff Harmet, President, Cobra Golf and Titleist Golf Clubs. “This is a direct result of incredible support of our retail partners and our mission to design superior performing products for avid golfers and our focus on extensive trial and fitting programs. We’re confident that once a golfer tries Cobra clubs, they will experience more power, greater accuracy and forgiveness.”
To get Cobra clubs into golfers’ hands, the company conducted a record number of demo events and significantly increased the number of authorized Cobra Custom Fitting locations worldwide in 2007. Among the recent innovative introductions driving Cobra Golf’s sales success were the new King Cobra L4V driver, Baffler utility metals and UFi irons.
Cobra sales grew in mature markets such as the United States and Europe by nine percent and seven percent, respectively, while setting the stage for long term growth in the developing Asian markets such as China, Korea and Japan.
“To fuel this momentum we have significant new driver and iron launches planned for the Spring of 2008,” said Harmet. “Together with our late 2007 introductions, the Cobra brand will promote the most extensive product range in our 35-year history in 2008.”
Across the worldwide professional tours, the diverse Cobra Tour Staff consisting of 2006 U.S. Open champion Geoff Ogilvy, Ian Poulter, Camilo Villegas, J.B. Holmes and Kevin Na, as well as LPGA standout Jeong Jang, had another successful year. The global momentum continued when Villegas earned his first career victory as a professional in October with a win at the Coca-Cola Tokai Classic in Japan, and Poulter captured the Dunlop Phoenix a month later. Ogilvy closed out the campaign ranked 13th in the Official World Golf Rankings, followed by Poulter at No. 22. Jason Gore officially joins the Cobra Tour Staff for 2008.
