LITTLE RIVER, S. C., Jan 7, 2008 – The Carolinas PGA Section (CPGA) has announced today that Kate Anderson will be joining their team as the new promotions and marketing manager. Set to assume her duties in January 2008, she will be responsible for the overall communications with Carolinas PGA professionals as well as the events that facilitate the growth of the game within the Carolinas and southern Virginia.
Among her duties, Anderson will be leading the planning and execution of Play Golf America Days, Family Golf Days and other Growth of the Game events and initiatives. She will also be writing and organizing the monthly E-Newsletter for distribution to CPGA members, and will create and design additional publications which will promote the role of the Carolinas PGA professional in the golf industry in the Carolinas.
Originally from rural Wisconsin, Anderson will be graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications-Public Relations. A long-time golfer and athlete, Anderson says her love of golf is what made her career decision for her. “I’ve always had an idea of where I wanted to be coming out of college, and I couldn’t have imagined a better fit for me than the Carolinas PGA Section.” As an intern with the Illinois Junior Golf Association (IJGA) and the Wisconsin Woodchucks Baseball Club, Anderson gained valuable experience in tournament and game operations as well as communications and media relations. Her leadership achievements within the IJGA prepared her for her new role with the CPGA and she looks forward to further promoting the game of golf to another large audience. “The variety of programs I am going to be involved with is very exciting,” Anderson said. “The Carolinas PGA Section does so much to bring the game of golf to everyone from its professional members to the general public, and I look forward to being an instrumental part of their goals and achievements.”
Executive Director, Ron Schmid, PGA, said, “We are very pleased that Kate has accepted this position with the Section. This will enhance the promotion of our members and will increase awareness of the Carolinas PGA initiatives to all golfers and potential golfers throughout the Carolinas.”
Since its inception in 1923, the Carolinas PGA Section has been committed to nurturing and improving the quality of the game for the thousands of golfers using its member facilities. Now the largest of the PGA’s forty-one sections, the Carolinas PGA Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association boasts nearly 2,000 professional members and represents more than 800 golf facilities within North and South Carolina as well as portions of southern Virginia. PGA professionals are responsible for conducting a variety of golf-related functions which include human resource management, golf shop merchandising, golf instruction, tournament operations, junior golf programs, growth of the game initiatives, golf club repair, administering the rules, public relations and much more.
