Augusta, GA. – “Beat the Bogey Man’s” Dr. Travis Fox announced today that he has signed an agreement to coach one of the LPGA Tour’s rising stars, Amy Hung, for the 2008 season.
“Amy is an amazingly talented player with an exceptionally strong work ethic,” said Dr. Travis Fox. “She had a great 2007 season and physically she has all the tools to be one of the best players on the LPGA Tour. Amy has set some very high goals for herself in 2008 and I’m very excited to be working with her on fine tuning the mental aspect of her game so she can not only achieve those goals but surpass them.”
Hung, who was part of the Asian team that beat Annika Sorenstam’s Team International at the Lexus Cup in Perth Australia (December 2007), started playing golf at the age of 8 and had a very successful junior and amateur career winning 50 events worldwide including being crowned World Junior Champion at the age of 12. She turned pro in October of 2003 and had an excellent rookie year in 2004. By 2007, Amy had established herself as the leading Chinese-speaking player on the LPGA with one of the highlights of her season being a 5th-place finish at the HSBC Women’s World Match Play Championship. Amy recorded 4 Top 10’s in 2007 with earnings totaling over $299,000.00 placing her 44th on the LPGA Tour Money List and 19th at the ADT points
With the addition of Dr. Travis Fox her goals for the 2008 season include winning her 1st LPGA title and finishing in the Top 40 on the Money List.
“If there is one area of the game that I haven’t worked on as hard as the others, it is probably the mental aspect. I’m hoping Dr Fox can help me be a happier, calmer player on the course, without me losing the drive to succeed. I’m so determined to meet my goals, and I believe there’s enough scope to improve dramatically, ” said Amy, the daughter of a Taiwanese abstract artist.
