PLANO, TEXAS, January 7, 2008 – Adams Golf hybrids were played by more pros than any other hybrids at the Mercedes-Benz Championship at Kapalua Resort’s Plantation Course, according to the Darrell Survey. After a busy off-season of high-profile additions to its tour staff, including Aaron Baddeley and Rory Sabbatini, some things remained the same as Adams Golf opened the 2008 season as the #1 hybrid on tour. Additionally, the winner of the Mercedes-Benz Championship played an 18-degree Idea Pro hybrid en route to his second PGA Tour win.
Along with this year’s tournament champion playing Adams hybrids, the returning tournament champion also carried the new Idea a3 hybrid in his bag as he finished T12. Six golfers who finished in the Top 20 played Adams hybrids, including Sabbatini, who played 18 and 20-degree Idea a3 hybrids. Adams Golf hybrids accounted for 35% of all the hybrids in play.
“We really couldn’t have asked for a better start to the PGA Tour season,” said Max Puglielli, Adams Golf director of tour operations. “The success we’ve had with our hybrids hasn’t slowed, in fact, all signs point to that success increasing as this new season begins. We’re excited about the new players on our tour staff and all the other players we didn’t sign who continue to play our golf clubs and trust their performance.”
Adams Golf won the hybrid count at 18 tournaments on the PGA Tour last season and ranked #1 at every event on the Nationwide and Champions Tours. Over 4,800 Adams Golf hybrids were played on the three men’s tours in 2007, putting the company at the top of the overall hybrid tour rankings for the second year in a row.
