Mercedes Championship Sustains Momentum of Brand?s Seven-Year Tour Leadership

(Vista, CA – January 8, 2008) Fujikura’s Rombax shaft technology was used in the driver played by the winner of the 2008 PGA Tour’s first event, the Mercedes-Benz Championship, sustaining the momentum of the brand’s seven-year Tour leadership and following up on the player’s first tour win with the same shaft at the 2007 Ginn sur Mer Classic in the Fall.

On the typically challenging and windy Kapalua course, the Mercedes champion surpassed the field in average driving distance by eight yards — 264 to 256 yards to secure his second win in three months in a four-hole playoff.

“Being part of this first win is a thrilling way to start 2008, especially as it extends our Tour leadership of seven years in the typically rigorous conditions at Kapalua,” says Peter R. Sanchez, President/COO of Fujikura. “This will kick start our year heading into the important PGA Show in Orlando next week. We congratulate the winner who also looks like he is sustaining the momentum from his first win in the Fall.”

“We are thrilled to see this champion win again and in such an exciting playoff at the Mercedes,” says Pat McCoy, Fujikura’s Tour manager. “He and his Rombax shaft continue to perform at the highest level as shown by his superior driving distance on one of the Tour’s notoriously windy and challenging courses.”

Fujikura Composites America, Inc. enjoyed another exceptional year on the 2007 by being the leading Driver and All Woods categories on the three major U.S. Tours: PGA, LPGA and Champions.

Fujikura also showed dramatic, consistent growth over the last three years across all handicaps and ages in shafts used in new drivers and fairway woods/hybrids, according to the most recent Darrell Survey National Consumer Report. The report shows that Fujikura grew 189% in New Driver Usages and 200% in New Fairway/Hybrids, exceeding leading competition from 2005 to 2007.

Fujikura is the primary supplier to many national brand OEM’s offering both proprietary and brand product shaft designs. Fujikura products also can be custom fitted through its network of over 900 Charter Dealers. To learn more about Fujikura, visit www.fujikuragolf.com.
