Leading maker of fitting systems sacrifices square footage to support cause.
THE INTERNET (January 10th, 2008) – Stop Club Abuse announced today that it will be attending the 2008 PGA Merchandise Show, thanks to an unexpected donation by its lead sponsor, AccuSport.
“Nine square feet is more than we could have ever imagined,” exclaimed Jonah Hughes, founding member of Stop Club Abuse. “We’re thrilled to have a presence at the PGA Show within AccuSport’s Booth # 2028.”
“It was just the right thing to do,” said Don Thorup, President of AccuSport. “Here’s a group who believes passionately about addressing the issue of club abuse, and we’re proud to support them however we can. Besides, the fake ficus we’d bought for that corner didn’t even come close to the aesthetic standard we’ve set with our new Vector Links simulator.”
“It’s one thing to highlight the problem of club abuse,” Hughes claims. “It’s another to be able to offer the solution just steps away. As we’ve said time and again, properly fitted clubs are the best way to stop club abuse from happening in the first place. And AccuSport’s Vector Pro and Vector Links fitting systems offer an ideal solution to this growing epidemic.”
So far, Stop Club Abuse has promoted itself chiefly through its website – www.stopclubabuse.org – as well as at local and regional events.
“The response has been overwhelming. Club abuse is an issue every golfer can identify with. Perhaps they’ve witnessed it firsthand. Maybe they’re club abusers themselves. I think stopclubabuse.org offers hope to a lot of frustrated golfers. And I know we offer hope to every abused club.”
Both Thorup and Hughes predict that the “booth with a booth” concept they’ve created for the Show will be a success. Other initiatives planned by the organization include picketing outside the show to draw attention to their cause, soliciting stories of club abuse from show attendees, and a “Club Rescue” Kit at the Equipment Testing Center, where AccuSport also has a presence.
“Just in case,” Hughes asserts.
