GolfLogix GPS-8 Features Increased Memory Capacity, Course Auto-Recognition & Last Shot Distances; And Is More Affordable For All Golfers
Scottsdale, Arizona – January 18, 2008 – GolfLogix, Inc., the Company that pioneered handheld GPS in the golf industry, today unveiled its next generation product, GolfLogix GPS-8, at the 2008 PGA Merchandise Show (Booth #3321). The new system takes golf GPS to the next level by capitalizing on advancements in GPS technology and adding the most requested features from golfers. Most notable are the system’s increased memory capacity (now able to hold up to 20 courses on the device and up to 6 hazards per hole), select features such as last shot distance and auto course recognition, as well as the new price of $299.95, making the system more affordable for the golf community.
The ability to hold 20 courses doubles the previous model’s capacity and is enhanced by having the system automatically recognize the course being played when the device is powered on. “We are continually developing and refining our system for simplicity,” said Pete Charleston, President, GolfLogix, Inc. “We don’t want golfers to have to scroll through a list of courses before starting their round. It’s our mission to automate every detail of GolfLogix GPS, making the game easier, not harder.”
Additional features in the new system include the ability to capture the distance of the last shot taken to aid in club performance tracking. The automated features from the original GolfLogix GPS, such as auto-advance to the next hole and continual display of distances, are incorporated in the new sleek black design. GolfLogix remains the only system on the market that is 100% waterproof and comes with an unprecedented 12-month warranty.
In March 2008, GolfLogix is launching a nationwide advertising campaign to introduce the new system and educate consumers on the benefits of GPS for golf. Gary McCord, Champion’s Tour Player and lead CBS Analyst, along with Peter Kostis, a top 20 instructor and CBS Sports
Broadcaster, have signed on as corporate representatives. “What attracted me to GolfLogix rather than the other GPS systems is its simplicity. It is so easy to use. It does everything for you and just gives you the information that you need to make your next shot. You never have to get out of your game to press buttons or try to find a menu screen,” said McCord. “What I like is that you don’t need to estimate distances especially while trying to recover from errant shots. GolfLogix lets you manage your game better,” added Kostis.
Shipping in March 2008, GolfLogix GPS will retail for $299.95 which includes one free golf course map download. Downloading any one of the 15,000-plus courses professionally mapped by GolfLogix can be done in seconds and requires no complex computer expertise. Unlimited worldwide course maps are available for an annual subscription fee of $29.95. GolfLogix is compatible on most computer platforms including Windows, XP, Vista and Mac. GolfLogix is available through major sports and golf retailers, or can be purchased directly at www.GolfGPS.com.
