Association CEO Hughes to Review 2007, Announce Focus Issues for 2008
CHARLESTON, S.C. (Jan. 16, 2008) – With two weeks to go before the NGCOA’s Annual Conference, officials of the association that represents golf course owners and operators say attendance for the Jan. 28 – Feb. 2 event in Orlando could set a record.
“Our pre-show registration numbers are tracking about 20 percent ahead of last year’s conference,” said Joe Rice, the NGCOA’s marketing director. “We’ll be surprised if we don’t see a record number of attendees.” The association’s 2007 Annual Conference, which was held inAnaheim, Calif., also set attendance records with a 13 percent increase over the previous year’s event in Atlanta.
In addition to some 25 educational sessions focused on solutions to course owners’ and operators’ major challenges, NGCOA members will hear a report on the association’s key achievements from 2007 and priorities for 2008 from NGCOA CEO Mike Hughes.
Hughes is expected to review results from collaborative efforts with the PGA of America to increase participation through the Play Golf America program as well as update members on PGA PerformanceTrak in Cooperation with the NGCOA, a financial benchmarking program that provides insight to participants’ golf operation as well as their competitive market.
Hughes also will announce that the association’s priority issues for 2008 will be increasing rounds and revenues, property taxes and the environment. Each issue will be examined in the NGCOA’s member publications and through other communications vehicles.
Winners of the NGCOA’s annual awards for course quality, management excellence and contributions to the association and the game of golf also will be recognized during the conference, giving attendees additional opportunities to learn from leaders.
The Annual Conference will run concurrently with the fourth annual Golf Industry Show, which begins Jan. 31, also at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. The NGCOA is a presenting sponsor of the Golf Industry Show, which brings together owners, operators and professional members of the golf course and club management industries.
