ORLANDO, FL (January 18, 2008) – Mark King, President and C.E.O. of TaylorMade-adidas Golf, became the first two-time winner in the Business Achievement category of ING Industry Honors awards program, it was announced on Friday.
Winners in 12 categories of the 15th edition of the ING Industry Honors were announced Friday, Jan. 18 at the PGA Merchandise Show in the Orange County Convention Center from ClubING. King was nominated in the Business Achievement category along with David Chu of Mission Hills Group in China, and Steve Mona, CEO of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
Called by some the “Academy Awards of the golf industry,” the ING Industry Honors program is conducted by the non-profit International Network Of Golf to recognize outstanding achievement in the golf business. Nominations were accepted throughout the year from anyone in the golf industry. Sub-committees trimmed the nominee list down to the top three in each category. ING members then voted electronically to determine the winners, who receive a beautiful statue from Heritage Creations in New York.
King oversaw the unique launch of two drivers at the2007 PGA Show, and has been in charge during TaylorMade’s rise to the top of the metalwoods market, capturing as much as 26 percent of the total market.
TaylorMade-adidas Golf was a big winner Friday capturing four of the 12 categories. Also winning from TMaG were the Burner Driver in Product Ingenuity, the TaylorMade Golf print advertisement, and the adidas TV Commercial Series for all-weather attire.
Some of the other winners were Trion:Z in Product Ingenuity, Emerging Companies; LPGA/USGA Girls Golf; in Player Development, Pete Dye in Golf Course Design, and the EWGA Golf Committee in Tournament Service. A complete list of winners is below.
