ORLANDO – Winners were announced and presented in 13 categories recently in the 15th Annual ING Media Awards. The presentations were made from ClubING at the PGA Merchandise Show at the Orange Country Center. Adam Schupak and John Steinbreder of Golfweek, and Vic Williams of Fairways + Greens were all multiple winners in the competition.
The International Network Of Golf is an 18-year-old, non-profit, media-based networking organization whose mission is to enhance and promote communication and education in golf. The group conducts two meetings each year in the spring and fall, when media and industry leaders gather to discuss issues, launch and test new products, and develop relationships.
Schupak, Steinbreder and Williams each won two categories, and received honorable mentions in two other categories. Schupak won the Equipment Writing category with a story titled The Namesake, and the new Apparel Writing category for March Of The Penguin. Steinbreder was best in Business Writing with his story about charity golf, and Opinions with a column titled Timeout. Williams won first place in Travel Writing (New World To Order), and Profiles (Murray’s Law).
Each category of the ING Media Awards program has a category chair, who is responsible for selecting three independent judges for the category. Entries are stripped of identification prior to being sent to the category chairs and judges.
The ING Media Awards program sponsors were Almost Golf, Player’s Pass, Golf Mesquite Nevada, Sunbuster and Zelocity.
The ING’s next gathering is the 18th Annual ING Spring Conference, set for May 27-31 in Atlantic City, NJ. For details, visit www.inggolf.com, or call 407-328-0500.
