FORT WORTH, Texas – For the second straight week, a high-performance graphite shaft designed and manufactured by UST (United Sports Technologies®) helped to deliver victory on the PGA Tour. This week’s champion at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic trusted the UST Proforce V2 shaft design for consistent and accurate fairway wood shots and to claim top honors at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.
Overall, UST graphite shafts won first-, second- and third-place and claimed six of the Top 10 money positions. The victory came just one week after UST shafts dominated the Mercedes-Benz Championship, winning first- and second-place, claiming eight of the Top 10 money positions, and winning the total wood shaft count in both the Shaft Manufacturers and Brand categories.
“The Proforce Series continues to be one of the hottest graphite shaft designs on the PGA Tour, and it’s very rewarding to see the V2’s performance deliver victories week after week for the best golfers in the world,” says Jim McIntosh, tour representative for UST. “After it first burst on the scene by winning the 1999 Masters, the Proforce Series continues to maximize its revolutionary ‘Proforce Tip Technology’ on pro tours around the world, while still evolving with continued innovation and development.”
For 2008, the Proforce evolution continues. Recently, UST introduced the Proforce HMOI – a new high-performance model specifically engineered for serious players with a ‘Grip It and Rip It’ mentality. Utilizing technology developed through extensive Moment of Inertia (MOI) testing in drivers, UST’s new Proforce HMOI graphite shafts provide ultimate accuracy and stability and incorporate the Proforce Tip Technology that has delivered winning performance on every professional tour in the world. The HMOI’s unique counter-balance technology reduces swingweight and decreases the MOI of the ‘entire club’ about the club’s center of gravity, making the club easier to swing faster.
“The popular high-MOI clubheads require a great deal of shaft stability for the proper performance,” explains Simpson. “Our engineers have elevated the shaft’s balance point which offsets the heavier clubhead weight, improves shaft control and narrows shot dispersion. The new Proforce HMOI feels and plays lighter and provides a stable platform that allows strong players to aggressively swing through the ball, while avoiding shaft lag or droop.”
World-renowned pros such as Jim Furyk, Davis Love III and Rod Pampling – among many others – put their trust in UST high-performance shafts and the new Proforce HMOI is a great example of the technology that has made UST a world leader in graphite shaft innovation.
