#1 Brand on Tour Kicks Off 2008 with EUPGA Win
Marlborough, MA-January 22, 2008 – On the heels of a wildly successful 2008 PGA Merchandise Show, CHAMP Spikes, the number one brand on Tour began the season by bagging its first championship with the new and improved Scorpion Stinger™.
The 23-year-old champion earned his first ever European Tour victory at the 2008 Abu Dhabi Golf Championship while wearing the new and improved CHAMP Scorpion Stinger spikes. The victor is the youngest German winner in the history of the European Tour, and also became the only player listed on the Top 50 World Golf Rankings under the age of 25.
New for 2008, CHAMP Spikes has revamped the top-selling men’s Scorpion Stinger by enhancing the overall composition of the spike and solidifying the traction legs through structural improvements. CHAMP has used exclusive material and technological advancements for a more supportive spike, as the yellow traction legs are thicker and softer for better cushioning and longer lasting performance. The black traction legs have been slightly elongated to help improve both traction and durability, while also reducing clogging.
CHAMP’s improvements certainly made a difference as the winner shot a final round 74 for a 15-under-par total of 273, a four shot victory over his closest opponents. More than half of this week’s top ten players on both the PGA and European PGA leader boards wore CHAMP spikes.
