New TaylorMade TP Red Golf Ball with Low Drag Performance Leads Funk to Two-Stroke Win
CARLSBAD, Calif. (January 22, 2008) – TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff Professional Fred Funk birdied the last two holes of his final round to win the Champions Tour MasterCard Championship at Hualalai by two strokes. It was his third Champions Tour victory in 14 career starts and his first win since switching to the TaylorMade® TP Red™ Golf Ball with Low Drag Performance Technology.
"I’ve got to thank TaylorMade," said Funk. "They have a brand new ball this year, the new TP Red and it is a fantastic wind ball. It’s a great company and a great golf ball. It’s the best wind ball I ever played, and I needed it."
Funk began the final day in second place, but quickly captured the lead with five birdies on the back nine, including a chip-in from 20 feet on the 17th and a 7-foot putt on the 18th. Funk finished at 21-under with nine birdies on the day. Overall, Funk topped the field with 23 birdies and tied for seventh in Driving Accuracy playing the TaylorMade r7® SuperQuad™ TP Driver.*
