LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The largest international organization of golf equipment professionals, the Professional Clubmakers’ Society (PCS) proudly announces this year’s PCS Hall of Fame inductees Richard Bogdan, Seymour Dunn, Robert Roseburg and Jack Nicklaus. The dignitaries were honored during the 2008 PCS Golf Equipment Professional Technology Conference held at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla.
“The PCS Hall of Fame identifies and honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the craft of clubmaking, clubfitting and the game of golf,” says Carol Huff, manager of membership and partner relations for the Professional Clubmakers’ Society. “This year’s inductees are among the most worthy individuals to ever receive the award, and we are honored to acknowledge each as an outstanding member of the golfing and golf equipment professional community.”
PCS Hall of Fame inductee Jack Nicklaus, affectionately known as The Golden Bear, is the most accomplished player in the history of major championship golf to receive the PCS honor. Nicklaus earned 73 PGA Tour wins, 18 Major Championships, including five Masters), 10 Senior PGA Tour wins and 113 total victories worldwide. In addition to his tour career, Nicklaus founded his own golf equipment company, helped design golf clubs and has designed hundreds of golf courses.
Other inductees included: Richard Bogdan, who was a PCS charter member (1989) and who was instrumental in creating the first PCS Certification test, the Class A Clubmaker exam; Seymour Dunn, who wrote a widely respected book “Golf Fundamentals” in 1922 that included a fitting process and chart considered light years ahead of its time; and Robert Rosburg, who was highly accomplished as a profressional golf player and sports commentator.
“These gentlemen have all made enormous contributions and sacrifices to help advance the craft of custom fitting as we know it today, and the Professional Clubmakers’ Society is proud to acknowledge their accomplishments,” adds Huff.
The Golf Equipment Professionals of the PCs provide the highest level of clubmaking and custom fitting services in the world and invaluable information on the latest in golf equipment, supplies and accessories. The PCS also annually hosts the 2008 Golf Equipment Professional Technology Conference, which features seminars approved by the PGA and LPGA, hands-on equipment testing, and workshops for golf equipment professionals. Perhaps the most valuable service offered by the PCS is its Certification Program, which signifies a golf equipment professional has met the highest standard of academic proficiency, applied technology, and excellence in craftsmanship in the areas of clubmaking, club fitting, and club repair.
