PGA Study Shows Women?s Golf Association?s Economic CloutåÊ
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, January 24, 2008 The Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) demonstrates the ‘power of the purse’ – the economic impact that female golfers and especially EWGA members have on the golf industry. Recently released results from The PGA of America’s 2007 golf participation survey reflect that an EWGA chapter generates over $698,800 in annual golf-related spending. Considering there are currently 123 EWGA chapters, the organization represents more than $85 million to the golf industry.
Since the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) started in 1991, more than 85,000 women have benefited from membership in the organization which is dedicated to providing opportunities to learn, play and enjoy the game of golf for business and for life.
Consistent with previous years’ studies, the 2007 survey found that EWGA members spent on average $4,528 on golf fees, lessons, equipment, food and beverage, and golf-related travel in the past 12 months. The significant impact of an EWGA chapter is also reaffirmed by the survey’s findings that 69% of EWGA members are avid golfers, playing 25 or more rounds per year.
"We create and retain avid and core golfers as well as bring more women into the game," says Pam Swensen, CEO of the EWGA. "These annual surveys confirm the economic value our chapters contribute to their local golf economy, and why it makes sound business sense for more companies to target female golfers as an important growth market.”
EWGA chapters provide a wide range of golf, social and networking activities for both new and experienced golfers. A welcoming environment, golf education and player development, and organized play programs are all part of the many benefits of EWGA membership.
The Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) is a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. There are more than 120 EWGA chapters throughout the United States and international chapters in Canada and France. For more information about the association and its membership, visit www.ewga.com.
