SONOMA, CA (January 17, 2008) – The rapidly-spreading global reputation of the International Pairs golf tournament has taken another significant step forward. The appointment of two travel industry executives as the new license holders for the western United States has instilled even more experience and credibility into an already booming enterprise. Frank Samson and Jay Risher jointly have over 50 years of successful business operations in the travel industry. “Frank and Jay’s entrepreneurial backgrounds together with International Pairs’ expanding tournament model has already proven to be the perfect combination with our growth plans in the United States,” said Ross Honey, Chairman and Tournament Founder of International Pairs based in the United Kingdom. International Pairs has 32 participating countries throughout the world.
With initial emphasis in California and continued expansion in the western U.S., both private and public clubs have already signed up for this unique opportunity. The winning 2-person teams from each Club will earn an all-expense paid trip to compete in the U.S. Finals in Carmel, California this July. Each team will have the opportunity to advance and travel to St. Andrews this September, representing the U.S. and compete in the World Finals. The Head Golf Professional will accompany the winning pair on the complementary trip to St. Andrews.
“The International Pairs competition offers an incredible value, camaraderie among golfers around the world and the experience of a lifetime playing golf in St. Andrews. The event is the most gratifying event I can offer our members and customers,” said Val Verhunce, PGA Member and Director of Instruction at Adobe Creek GC in Petaluma, California.
Golf Clubs can incorporate the International Pairs’ tournament to their existing Member/Member, Member/Guest, Men’s and Women’s Club tournaments already on the calendar, or conduct a separate International Pairs tournament. The only registration fee is at the local tournament and can vary depending on the number of tournaments held and golfers participating, but the cost per golfer could run as low as $10 each.
