LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The world’s largest, international organization of golf equipment professionals, the Professional Clubmakers’ Society (PCS) has named Jim McCleery of McGolf Custom Clubs and Driving Range in Waverly, Ohio, as the 2008 PCS International Clubmaker of the Year. McCleery was awarded the PCS’s highest honor at the 2008 PCS Golf Technology Conference held recently at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla.
As the golf industry’s only organization dedicated to excellence among golf equipment professionals, the PCS bestows the International Clubmaker of the Year Award to custom clubmakers who have the achieved the pinnacle of their profession, service and trade. To receive the award, nominees undergo a rigorous selection process designed to reveal the most deserving PCS clubmakers in the world.
Other regional finalists for the 2008 International Clubmaker of the Year Award included Ed Grabowy of Woodstock, Ga.; Don Irving of Kanata, Ontario, Canada; Frank Lewis of Chesapeake, Va.; Dana Wong of New Minas, Canada; and Mike Woody of Bethalto, Ill.
“The award means reaching the pinnacle of the custom clubmaking and club fitting industry,” says Jim McCleery, who began his clubmaking career in 1999. “I cannot think of a better award that typifies the best of the best, and I am proud to represent the Professional Clubmakers’ Society.”
In his clubmaking career, McCleery has obtained several certifications, including Advanced Certified PCS Professional. He is currently serving as the chairman for the education committee for the PCS, and teaches many of the fitting, clubmaking and business classes.

In addition, the PCS hosts an annual membership conference, which features clubmaking seminars approved by the PGA and LPGA; hands-on equipment testing, and workshops on club fitting, clubmaking and club repair.
