#1 Brand on Tour Wins on PGA and EUPGA
Marlborough, MA-January 29, 2008 – The temperatures in the Northeast may be dropping, but CHAMP Spikes, the number one brand on Tour, continues to heat things up with victories on both the PGA and European PGA Tours.
Early on at the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines in Southern California, the winner seemed to be a foregone conclusion. The number one ranked player in the world counted on CHAMP spikes to help him make the game look easy. The winner held firm in the blustery weather to take an eight shot victory, his fourth straight win at Torrey Pines. This win, his 62nd, ties him with Arnold Palmer for fourth place on the all-time PGA Tour victory list.
Seven of the top ten finishers chose CHAMP Scorpion Stinger™, Pro Stinger™ or traditional steel Cermec® spikes to fulfill their traction needs. Additionally, 65% of the players who elected to wear CHAMP spikes chose CHAMP over the spikes that came as original equipment in their shoes.
A similar story unfolded oversees at the Qatar Masters where the winner chose CHAMP’s Scorpion Stinger spikes to provide the traction and stability needed to grind out the victory. The young Australian, who has won this tournament both times he has entered, shot to fifth in the World Golf Rankings as a result of the victory. CHAMP Spikes ruled the weekend as an astonishing 76% of the field and nine of the top twelve finishers chose CHAMP.
