State?s Best Boys and Girls Ages 13-15 to Compete on Tournament-Tested Course
(DELAND, Fla.) – Victoria Hills Golf Club – the award-winning Ron Garl design at the heart of Victoria Park, a St. Joe community in historic DeLand – will host some of the state’s top young golfers when the Florida Junior Tour visits February 9-10.
Boys and girls in the 13-15 age group will compete over two days at Victoria Hills, where they’ll test their games on the challenging Ron Garl-designed layout. The boys will play from tees set at approximately 6,700 yards, with the girls’ tees in the 5,800-yard range. Top finishers receive Florida Junior Tour rankings points as well as points toward exemptions into American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournaments. The event is sponsored by theDavid Leadbetter Golf Academy.
The home course of the Stetson University men’s and women’s golf teams, Victoria Hills has hosted many high-level events since opening in 2001. The course held a U.S. Open Qualifier in 2007 and has staged a U.S. Senior Open qualifier and NCAA collegiate events over the past three years. Victoria Hills has also emerged as one of the most highly decorated courses in the state, garnering “best of” recognition from GOLF Magazine, Golf Digest,Travel + Leisure Golf, Golfweek, the Orlando Sentinel and Golf Life Orlando.
