The new 4DX SuperMAG driver is a marvel of technology. This 460cc high MOI design features a super thin magnesium crown joined to a titanium body that house Nickent’s proprietary XW inserts. The amazingly light material used on the crown enabled Nickent to create a large more geometric head shape that will inspire confidence at address.
The magnesium crown, almost two times lighter than titanium, allowed Nickent to move a significant amount of weight low and back in the head. Part of this weight is added to the XW inserts to increase the MOI of the head to 5300 without compromising the shape of the head. This is one of the highest MOI’s for a driver design that is not square based. This increased MOI on both heel-toe and high-low hits provides exceptional forgiveness and increased distance.
"Geometry is now an even more important element in a new driver design," said Nickent chief designer John Hoeflich. "The 4DX SuperMAG is different because of the weight saved from the crown, mixed with our new twist on a conventional shape has allowed us to create a high performance driver that golfers will love. If we can change the geometry of the club, we can change the inertial properties and that has a serious impact on how straight all players can drive the golf ball."
"Early in the design process I came to the conclusion that the 4DX SuperMAG triangle/bullet shape based geometry vs. a square shaped geometry resulted in a more efficient design that is more appealing to better players," said Hoeflich. "Golfers will benefit from the advanced materials, engineering and construction we used to create the higher MOI, while delivering the looks, feel and ball flight desired by every single golfer looking to improve their game."
Magnesium is an acoustically soft responsive metal that produces a solid "clink" at impact instead of the dull "clunk" associated with carbon crowned drivers. With a CG that is low and back in the head, the 4DX SuperMAG produces a high launch angle and its deeper face allows the player to strike the ball high in the face to reduce spin.
The 4DX SuperMAG has a large "hot zone" higher on the face that is made possible by the patented Nickent "A Frame" face technology that was developed for the Tour proven 4DX driver. The "A Frame" face construction has proven to be capable of producing significant distance gains over competitive drivers.
The high MOI 4DX SuperMAG is significantly more stable than conventional 460cc drivers without sacrificing other elements of superior driver design. The face bulge has been calculated to work with the XW inserts to optimize gear effect to keep the ball on line on off center hits.
The 4DX SuperMAG is the lightest driver ever produced by Nickent. The 195-gram head, super light SR3 Lite shaft ($379 street price) and Lamkin NNG grip produce a driving experience second to none! The 4DX SuperMAG will also sell for $379 in a UST V2 shaft. and will ship in Spring 2008. Available lofts: 8º, 9º ,10.5º, 12º right handed. Left-handed models will be available in 9º and 10.5º.
