ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL-(February 5, 2008)-When William Nichols heard he had won a four day/three night golfing trip to Orlando, he instantly knew he wanted to bring his son Donald along. However Donald, or DJ as he prefers to be called, was stationed in Iraq.
William called GolfOrlando, the group that sponsored the “Mancation Vacation” contest, and explained that he really wanted DJ to be one of his three guests on the trip. He asked if he could schedule the trip in January, once his son was back on US soil.
So last weekend, after waiting nine months for his son to complete his tour of duty William Nichols, William’s son DJ, William’s brother, and William’s nephew left 10-degree temperatures in Colorado to spend four days in sunny Orlando.
“I have been looking forward to the trip for many months,” said Donald. Honestly, the trip is what kept me going in Iraq.”
The group of men enjoyed golf at Mystic Dunes Golf Club, Grand Cypress, and Orange County National. In the evening, they were treated to steak dinners at Barney’s Steakhouse, Portobello Yacht Club, and The Kitchen at Universal; and a night at Corona Cigar Bar.
“The trip has been beyond our expectations. We haven’t been able to play golf in Colorado for weeks due to the snow,” said William. “We love the game, and the GolfOrlando members made it so wonderful for my son. That was my main objective.”
The 2008 Mancation Vacation giveaway is underway. The grand prize isn’t just a vacation; it’s a mancation, which the group defines as an annual event with a group of golfers who have been friends for years. It involves drinking fine wines, playing championship golf, enjoying steaks and cigars, and never having to stop and ask for directions.
“Orlando is a premier golf destination and the contest is one way of promoting the fantastic golf courses in Central Florida,” stated Golfpac President Jeff Hamilton.
Everyone who registers at the web site of GolfOrlando (www.golforlando.com) before February 29 will be entered and eligible to win.
The grand package winner and his three guests will stay at Mystic Dunes Resort & Golf Club for five days and four nights of luxury and relaxation.
The foursome will enjoy championship golf at five of Orlando’s finest courses: Celebration Golf Club, Eagle Creek Golf Club, Grand Cypress, Mystic Dunes Golf Club, and Shingle Creek Golf Club.
To round out the mancation package, GolfOrlando will include a dinner at one of Orlando’s best steakhouses. After dinner the foursome will enjoy a night out at Corona Cigar Bar. And to make sure the winner travels in style, a Lincoln Town Car from Budget Rent will be provided.
