New partnership supports the Environmental Institute of Golf?s Green Links Program
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — The PGA of America and GreenFix Golf have reached an agreement on an expansive, new partnership that recognizes GreenFix Golf as the “Preferred Ball Mark Repair Tool” of The PGA Golf Club, the 54-hole daily-fee facility in Port St. Lucie that is owned and operated by The PGA. GreenFix Golf also will offer a discount on the purchase of GreenFix Program packages by any facility that is staffed by a PGA Professional or a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).
GreenFix will provide patented GreenFix Wizard ball mark repair tools, to be used by golfers playing at The PGA Golf Club. In addition to receiving a ball mark repair tool before teeing off, golfers at The PGA Golf Club will be given a brief tutorial, by a staff member, on how to properly repair a ball mark on the greens using this tool, which utilizes a simple “pushing” method.
The PGA Golf Club annually hosts more than 100,000 rounds of golf over its three championship courses, designed by world-renowned architects Tom Fazio and Pete Dye. GreenFix Golf was founded by Danny Edwards, a five-time winner on the PGA Tour and the company’s chief executive officer.
“We are excited to partner with Danny Edwards and GreenFix Golf,” said Joe Steranka, chief executive officer of The PGA of America. “GreenFix Golf has invested significant time and resources into developing a product that, when used properly, can improve the conditions of the putting surfaces at many facilities. We hope to continue to enhance the already terrific golf experience at The PGA Golf Club through this program.”
Edwards said that courses that have incorporated the GreenFix Program, include: Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., site of the 2007 PGA Championship; Medinah (Ill.) Country Club, site of the 2006 PGA Championship; Oak Tree Golf Club in Edmond, Okla., site of the 2006 Senior PGA Championship; and Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa, site of the 2007 Principal Charity Classic on the Champions Tour and Quintero CC in Peoria, Ariz.
Each of those facilities, Edwards said, has experienced significant improvement in the quality of their putting surfaces with this program.
Edwards added that: "University research shows that a short tonged tool and a ‘pushing method of repair’ is a more effective and simpler way to repair a ball mark, allowing them to heal faster. This method significantly improves the quality of putting surfaces and requires less stimulants. We are proud and excited to partner with The PGA Golf Club, to further demonstrate the benefits of our program."
For every facility that purchases the GreenFix Program, the company will make an annual donation to the Environmental Institute of Golf’s Green Links Program.
"The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America applauds The PGA and GreenFix Golf on this program," said GCSAA CEO Steve Mona, CAE. "With this generous donation by GreenFix Golf to our philanthropic organization, The Environmental Institute for Golf, GCSAA members will also benefit from increased research and educational opportunities, further strengthening golf’s relationship with the environment."
Green Links is a newly created donor program designed specifically for the golf facility. The program will provide golf facilities with regular tips, information and advice to enhance the facility’s environmental and communication efforts. Each golf facility will receive an activation kit complete with wall plaque, 15-month calendar, window stickers and environmental planning information. In addition, each golf facility will be recognized for their commitment in a variety of golf publications.
