Pros impressed with most advanced mobile golf video system
COLUMBUS, Neb. – Golf instructors from around the world took advantage of the opportunity to see first-hand the PortaPro Video system at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando as well as the show’s Demo Day.
“It was an extremely successful show from many standpoints,” said PortaPro Video President Mikol Hess following the company’s debut at the world’s largest golf show. “We certainly gained a lot of exposure and met with a lot of golf instructors, one of the groups of people we needed to see. It was also a great opportunity to help get our brand established. Now we’re on the golf instructors’ radar and they know who we are and what we have to offer and they are very interested.”
The PortaPro Video system is fully integrated into the golf cart and records a full frame shot from 12-15 feet away. The hands-free system allows the teaching professional to observe, analyze and interact with a student during a playing lesson and can also be used in traditional teaching settings such as driving ranges and practice greens.
Ben Alexander, Award-Winning PGA Teacher at the Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif. and 2007 Teacher of the Year nominee, has been in PortaPro Video’s corner from the very first time he saw the system in action.
“During the Demo Day and the PGA Show, I spoke with a lot of pros about the PortaPro Video system and they all were very impressed with it,” said Alexander. “They were amazed with the versatility of the product, how uncomplicated it is to operate, and the fact that the student can take the lesson home with them on a DVD when their session is finished.”
The pros’ reaction at the PGA Show and Demo Day to the PortaPro Video was very similar to Alexander’s when he first saw the system in action.
“I remember when I first spoke with Mikol (Hess) about the Porta Pro Video, my interest was piqued once I heard about it,” said Alexander. “I could see that the PortaPro Video system was the biggest advancement in video instruction. I can remember when I used VHS recorders on a tripod. It wasn’t very good quality and the student couldn’t leave with the lesson in his hand. Now with the simplicity of the PortaPro Video, the instructor can review what was covered during the lesson and go over what the student needs to work on between lessons. Everything is recorded on the DVD that the student takes home with them … it’s a portable reference of their game. When they come back for their next lesson, they can add it to the DVD and use it to help chart their progress.”
