FORT WORTH, Texas – High-performance Proforce V2 graphite shafts designed and manufactured by UST® (United Sports Technologies) displayed power, distance and accuracy on the LDA Tour at this weekend’s Desert Launch Competition in Mesquite, Nev., and were easily crowned the No. 1 Shaft for Distance.
This year’s champion, Allen McDougall of Scottsdale, Ariz., won the final round of the event with a 338-yard blast, while runner-up Jeff Gavin, also playing a UST Proforce V2 shaft, posted the two longest drives of the overall tournament, 379 and 377 yards, respectively. Overall, Proforce V2 shafts won first- and second-place, a third-place tie at the Desert Launch Competition and were played by six of the Top Eight finalists.
“Power and stability are key requirements for strong players who like to crush the ball, and it’s no coincidence that this is UST’s second straight year in which we’ve had a great showing at the Desert Launch Competition,” says Mark Gerhardt, tour promotions manager for UST. “UST’s Proforce brand is a proven winner on every professional tour and it is one of the hottest lines of shafts in golf today.”
The high-performance Proforce series is often favored by serious players with a ‘Grip It and Rip It’ mentality high-performance. The innovative V2 LD model, for example, features a longer-than-standard length and indulges golfers looking for an explosive release of energy in a longer shaft. Meanwhile, the all-new Proforce HMOI shaft utilizes a unique counter-balance technology reduces swingweight and decreases the MOI of the ‘entire club’ about the club’s center of gravity, making the club easier to swing faster.
Played by such world-renowned golfers as Jim Furyk, Davis Love III and Rod Pampling – among many others – UST-designed graphite shafts have recently earned victories at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, Mercedes-Benz Championship, Commercialbank Qatar Masters and the FBR Open. UST also won the total wood shaft count in both the Shaft Manufacturers and Brand categories during the Mercedes-Benz event and showed numerical dominance among hybrid shafts with UST’s Proforce V2 Hybrid 89 as the single-most popular shaft model among the hybrid clubs played at the FBR Open.
