Quaint Single, Double Occupancy ?Cottages at SouthWood? Continue to Complement Award-Winning Golf Program
(TALLAHASSEE, Fla.) – SouthWood Golf Club – the award-winning public course at the heart of one of Tallahassee’s most comprehensively designed communities – today announces its quaint single and double occupancy guest cottages, “The Cottages at SouthWood,” will be available to golfers for stay-and-play packages throughout 2008.
Introduced in February 2007 to provide traveling golfers with the perfect mid-week or weekend getaway, the cottages provide the ideal complement to SouthWood’s award-winning golf course and programs. Packages start at $250 per night and include a round of golf at the award-winning Gene Bates/Fred Couples designed course, recently named “Best Golf Course” by Tallahassee Magazine for the second time in three years.
“We are excited about the continuation of the stay-and-play packages and to showcase this integral component of the SouthWood community,” says Beth Murphy, SouthWood General Manager. “The cottages provide a true stay-and-play option for visitors and Florida State alumni or a quiet retreat for friends and family of residents.”
Located across the lawn from the historic SouthWood House on a hill overlooking the community, the five cottages feature living rooms with gas fireplaces, efficiency kitchens, full baths, cozy bedrooms with cable television and traditional Southern front porches with rocking chairs. Three cottages feature single king-size beds, while two have queen-size beds (2) for double occupancy.
Clustered amid centuries-old, Spanish moss-draped live oaks, the cottages open up to an expansive grass lawn that is connected to the SouthWood House via a network of brick sidewalks.
The cottages are ideal for a couples’ getaway or a small golf group of up to eight players. As the official golf course of the Florida State University men’s and women’s golf teams, and given SouthWood’s proximity to campus, the cottages are also an excellent option for alumni and fans visiting for athletic events.
