Brad Dean and Scott Wilson earn merchandise and growing the game honors.
Thompsonville, MI (February 29, 2008) – The Michigan Section of the PGA has honored Crystal Mountain Director of Golf, Brad Dean with the Merchandiser of the Year award and awarded Director of Instruction, Scott Wilson the President’s Plaque.
Scott Wilson is the second Crystal Mountain instructor to receive the Michigan PGA’s President’s Plaque Award, joining Ina Davis who won the honor in 2006. The President’s Plaque is given to a PGA professional who has shown exceptional commitment to growing the game of golf.
In addition to working within Crystal’s Junior Elite program, one that has produced three of the last six Michigan Amateur champions, Wilson has spent countless hours promoting programs such as Play Golf America and Link Up 2 Golf. In addition, he has provided FREE lessons and clinics at golf shows, demo days, and local PGA Tour events and developed programs tied to local schools, junior camps, and section programs like Midnight Golf.
"Our PGA professionals are some of the best in the business and Scott is truly a testament to that," said Brad Dean, director of golf for Crystal Mountain. "We take great pride in our golf schools because the quality and value we offer to our students is absolutely crucial to growing the game."
Brad Dean added to his long list of accolades, including 2002 Michigan PGA Golf Professional of the Year, receiving the Merchandiser of the Year award. The honor recognizes Dean and Crystal Mountain for its excellence in business and merchandising among Michigan resorts.
Golf for Women magazine has recognized the resort’s extensive selection of women’s apparel and golf equipment by including Crystal among its list of "Top 50 courses." Custom club fitting included in golf schools and private lessons, elegant displays, and moderate prices for both men and women have set Crystal apart among golfers and the Michigan PGA.
"The quality and continued growth of our golf product is a direct result of Brad and Scott’s skill and hard work," said Jim MacInnes, president and general manager of Crystal Mountain. "They were the first two PGA professionals we hired at Crystal and we’re more and more pleased with this decision everyday."
The Michigan PGA goes through a detailed selection process to determine its award winners. Individual PGA members or chapters make nominations which are narrowed to three finalists in each category by the Michigan PGA membership. The members then submit a detailed questionnaire. A special awards committee then interviews each candidate, reviews the questionnaire, and selects the award winners.
Celebrating over 50 years, Crystal is a family owned resort, featuring 45 downhill slopes, 40+ km of cross-country trails, 36 holes of championship golf, lodging, dining, IACC-approved conference facilities, and coming soon, a full-service destination spa and Michigan’s only alpine slide. SKI Magazine rated Crystal the #1 Resort in the Midwest in 2005. Visitwww.crystalmountain.com.
