March 3, 2008; Phoenix Arizona: PING professional Lorena Ochoa relied on 14 PING® clubs, including the new Redwood® Series ZB™ putter model, in winning her season debut by 11 shots at the HSBC Women’s Champions event in Singapore.
Ochoa’s first tournament with the new putter resulted in 23 birdies over the four rounds on the Tanah Merah Country Club’s Garden Course. Her 20-under-par total was 11 shots better than the runner-up and marked her largest margin of victory in 18 career wins.
The number one ranked female golfer in the world, Ochoa began using PING clubs as a 13 year old. She’s used PING equipment in all 18 of her wins as a professional.
In Singapore, where the field included the top 15 players in the world, she played a PING Rapture® Driver, G10™ 3-wood, Rapture 5-wood, Rapture 21° Hybrid, S58® irons (4-9, PW) and Tour Wedges (50° and 56°).
The ZB model is one of two new PING Redwood models being introduced this month. The ZB and D66™ models are 100% precision-milled from 303 stainless steel. Shipments begin April 1, 2008. U.S. suggested retail price is $280 per putter.
Since signing an endorsement agreement with PING in June of 2007, Ochoa has won six times, including her first major championship at the Women’s British Open in August.
“Naturally, we’re excited and pleased with Lorena’s performance,” said John Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO. “Her tournament record speaks for itself. Beyond that, she makes it a point to use her success to have a positive effect on others. Since our association with her officially began last year, we’ve seen first-hand how her personality touches the lives of others. She’s a delightful and genuine person. We’re proud to be associated with her.”
