GWAA honored Greg Norman with the prestigious Bartlett Award

The Golf Writers Association of America has announced that Greg Norman will be presented the Barlett Award, named for the first secretary of the GWAA in lieu of a professional golfer’s unselfish support of the betterment of society. Norman will be honored at the GWAA Annual Awards Dinner April 9 in Augusta, Georgia.

Four Seasons Resort Great Exuma extends warm Congratulations to Greg Norman for redefining the role of a golf professional and creating an outstanding level both personally and professionally, for others to aspire to.

Known for spending three-decades of his professional career as the world’s No. 1 ranked player, winning two British Opens, and then turning his vast experience into his own design company, Greg Norman has been able to establish himself as a brand.

Four Seasons Resort Great Exuma solicited Norman to design and build a 7,001-yard, par 72, 18-hole course which was to be literally surrounded by the turquoise water of Emerald Bay. The famed golfer said of the project, “I fell in love with the location,” said Norman. “The entire site has such great natural beauty, and the island atmosphere puts you at ease and makes you feel welcome from the time you set your eyes on it.”

Environmentally conscious, Norman ensured that the natural beauty of the property, nestled among the lush native vegetation of Emerald Bay, where the fairways of six straight holes lie along the ocean was “conducive to protecting its surroundings." The course winds through a mix of seaside dunes and mangrove preserves, finishing on a rocky peninsula with majestic ocean views. Sea grapes, silver buttonwoods and cabbage palms are some of the varieties of vegetation that line the fairways. Play is on a course that sets a new standard of innovative turf technology.

Alongside his day job as a professional golfer and designer, Norman has been able to tack on the title of philanthropist as well. Greg Norman has raised over 10 million dollars over the years for various charities such as the National Childhood Cancer Foundation, the Ronald McDonald House, University of Pittsburgh’s Hillman Cancer Center, and beneficiaries of the 9/11 victims.

Four Seasons Resort Great Exuma is honored to be associated with Greg Norman.
