PBI/Gordon becomes GCSAA Silver Partner
PBI/Gordon Corp. has pledged its support of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) and its members by committing to participate in the association’s Partner Recognition Program. PBI/Gordon will invest resources at the program’s "Silver" level.
"We are proud to welcome PBI/Gordon to the GCSAA Partner Recognition Program," said GCSAA President David S. Downing II, CGCS. "These resources are invested for the benefit of GCSAA’s stakeholders — member superintendents, their facilities and the golf course management profession. The investments do not go to stockholders in the form of dividends or profits. They are put to work to develop education programs, conduct research, offer career resources, create information resources and develop tools to assist our members. Without the support of industry, GCSAA would not have the ability to provide resources to the benefit of its members and their employers. That is why we call our friends in the industry ‘partners.’ We are appreciative of PBI/Gordon’s support and I know our members are as well."
PBI/Gordon is a long-time supporter of GCSAA and its philanthropic organization, The Environmental Institute for Golf. PBI/Gordon is recognized at the Executive Club level through The Institute’s cumulative giving program of organizations that have contributed between $25,000 and $49,999 since 1987. PBI/Gordon also participates in the Golf Industry Show Silent Auction.
“PBI/Gordon was among the first companies to recognize the need for specialized products which would support the needs of the golf course superintendent,” said Laylah VanBibber, PBI/Gordon director of marketing. Trimec® Classic Broadleaf Herbicide, originally marketed as Fairway® Broadleaf Herbicide, will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2009. Developed for and marketed to golf course superintendents in 1969, Trimec Classic’s 35-year reign as the industry standard for broadleaf weed control has only recently been usurped by the company’s ProForm products. "We have had a long and mutually beneficial relationship with the golf course market and we will continue to focus on the needs of the superintendent in our product development efforts.”
With an acknowledged reputation for quality products, customer service, and business integrity, PBI/Gordon Corp. is an active force in the lawn and garden industry, a marketer of agricultural products and an innovator of professional turf and ornamental products, offering over 40 products designed for golf courses and other professional turf and ornamental managers. Founded as Private Brands Incorporated (PBI) in the fall of 1947, the Kansas City-based corporation was built on an attitude of basic honesty and forthrightness in all matters and a "bend-over-backwards-to-please" attitude towards customers. GCSAA’s Partner Recognition Program provides year-round exposure based on a prescribed level of investment. GCSAA industry partners can choose among Platinum, Gold and Silver levels as a means to achieve marketing objectives. Each level provides partners unique communications and recognition options to position themselves in the marketplace. Vehicles in the program include the Golf Industry Show, GCSAA Education Conference, Golf Course Management magazine, media communications, and GCSAA.org. Additional opportunities for exposure within GCSAA membership, committees, chapters, career services and others exist as well.
