(RIDGEFIELD, CT) — Boccieri Golf announces that Troy Matteson used the Heavy Putter en route to a tied-for-second-place finish at the PGA TOUR’s PODS Championship (Tampa, FL) yesterday, his second top-10 performance in 2008.
Matteson needed just 26 putts in the final round to shoot 69, bringing his putts-per-round average for the tournament to 28.8, eighth best in the field.
"I’ve been using the Heavy Putter for several years," says Matteson. "I rely on it to give me a consistent stroke every week. The biggest thing anyone who tries the Heavy Putter will find is that it improves your speed. And any time you can improve your speed, you’re going to make more putts."
"Troy has played well all year and we’re very proud of his achievements," says Stephen Boccieri, President and CEO of Boccieri Golf, maker of the Heavy Putter. "There is no doubt stellar putting has played a major role in his success, and he’s used a Heavy Putter every step of the way."
Matteson continues to play exceptionally well with the Heavy Putter since his breakout rookie season on the PGA TOUR in 2006, when he recorded a victory at the Frys.com Open and five consecutive top-10 finishes. In 2007, he put the company’s new "Deep Face" series into play and joined the elite group of 60 in the semi-final FedEx Cup round after recording three more top-10 finishes.
The achievements of the Heavy Putter are not limited to the U.S. professional circuits, but include two professional tour victories in Europe (including a record-breaking round of 59 in Morocco), as well as wins on the Canadian and Asian Tours.
Introduced in early 2005, the Heavy Putter is now carried in all 50 states and more than 30 overseas markets. It is found in many of the finest off-course shops and most prestigious golf courses, country clubs and resorts worldwide.
The Heavy Putter’s global popularity is because it’s the first and only putter that automatically improves the consistency of golfers’ strokes. Its unprecedented counter-balance theory of a heavier mass head and weighted grip causes greater stroke stability, consistent swing paths, uniform pace, precise distance and directional control, and tightens the end-over-end golf ball roll.
The pioneering weight technology features a 450- to 550-gram head (conventional heads are 330 to 350 grams). The Heavy Putter’s unique Weight Management System, a 250-gram weight installed in the grip end, produces a balance point 75 percent higher than conventional putters.
Golfers instinctively activate their larger, more stable muscles, preventing wrist breakdown and creating greater stability and consistency throughout the stroke.
The new Heavy Putter Deep Face Series retails for $169, and is available in two blade and three mallet models. Each can be custom ordered in standard, mid and long-putter lengths for men and women, and some models are available for left-handed golfers.
