Four-County Region Puts Education First as Annual Tournament Visits Skytop Lodge
(POCONO MOUNTAINS, Pennsylvania) – The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau today announces the Pocono Mountains Hospitality Scholarship Golf Tournament, scheduled for June 30 at Skytop Lodge. The four-person team scramble raises money for the Hospitality Scholarship Program, which awards $500 to high school seniors throughout the four-county Pocono Mountains region.
Students must be accepted into an accredited hotel restaurant tourism, travel and tourism management, culinary arts or resort management degree program at a two- or four-year college. In addition to the $500 scholarship program, three additional scholarships also will be presented:
* $1,000 Harry Kiesendahl Memorial Scholarship to a Wallenpaupack Area High School student
* $1,000 ESU Hotel Restaurant Tourism Management Scholarship
* $1,000 ESU Commercial Recreation Major Scholarship
“The hospitality industry is flourishing in the Pocono Mountains and this event is one of many ways to ensure this region continues to grow and meet the needs of today’s traveler,” says PMVB Executive Director Carl Wilgus.
The event is $150 per person and limited to 120 golfers divided into three flights. A shotgun start is scheduled for 1 p.m. with a cocktail hour and dinner/awards ceremony to follow. Deadline for registration is April 18.
