Spectacular Tom Fazio Design Vaults Into No. 6 Slot on Prestigious List
(WATERSOUND, Fla.) – Camp Creek Golf Club — the award-winning Tom Fazio design developed by The St. Joe Company and located along Northwest Florida’s stunning Gulf Coast – vaulted seven spots to No. 6 among Florida’s best courses in Golfweek’s 2008 “Best You Can Play, State-by-State” rankings.
This distinction marks the sixth consecutive year Camp Creek has ranked among the top 15 in the SunshineState, solidifying its reputation as one of the finest layouts in America. The survey, which included more than 700Florida courses, examined overall strength of routing, feature shaping, natural setting, greens, variety and memorability of holes, conditioning and maintenance, landscape management and other criteria.
“To make such a dramatic move up the Golfweek rankings speaks volumes about the design and conditioning of our golf course, as well as Camp Creek’s commitment to providing an unparalleled guest experience,” says Will Hopkins, General Manager at Camp Creek. “We’re proud to be honored again by Golfweek, whose panelists and readers are true students of the game.”
Camp Creek was selected by the United States Golf Association and Florida State Golf Association to host a U.S. Open Local Qualifier in 2007, and the course will host a 2008 U.S. Amateur Qualifier in July. In selecting the courses, the USGA and FSGA cited their championship-caliber layouts, commitment to conditioning and ample practice facilities.

About Camp Creek
Since opening in 2001, Camp Creek has been consistently cited as one of Tom Fazio’s most thought-provoking, aesthetically-stunning design credits. Featuring a unique “dunescape” appearance, the course was created as a private club for members who are owners of St. Joe selected communities and resort guests of St. Joe’s WaterColor and WaterSound Beach resorts. From the back green tees, the course plays to a championship caliber yardage of 7,159 and a formidable slope rating of 152. Camp Creek’s five-tee configuration, which also includes gold (senior) and red (women’s) tees, accommodates players of all skill and experience levels. Travel + Leisure Golf cited Camp Creek as “Florida’s No. 1 Course of the New Millennium.” It has also been recognized for its environmental stewardship through designation as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System (ACSS). Superintendent Larry Livingston was similarly distinguished as a certified Audubon Steward. Camp Creek is operated by Troon Golf, the leader in upscale golf course management.
